This left the Junior Team in the Dunluce Trophy meeting Swindon Town in the quarter final. Despite falling behind to a super 20 yard chip after 5 minutes Down equalised with a great strike from Dean McCormack after 12 although Swindon restored their lead with a Seamus McDonnell og before the half time whistle. The same player made amends half way through the second half with a great finish. Right on full time captain Joshua Magennis headed home a great centre from Kevin Coyle to give the Down Team a deserved first victory.
The semi final of the Dunluce Trophy brought together two County Teams , Londonderry and Down. The game was played at a furious pace with David Gibson hitting the Derry woodwork after 20 minutes. More drama was to come when Derry got a penalty but keeper Kyle Harris pulled off a super save to keep the scoreline blank at the half. The second half was a great display of football at U-15 level with both teams all out for the winner. Derry scored with a screamer from 25 yards which looked to have sealed it but Kevin Coyle had other ideas when he scored direct from a corner 5 minutes later. Both sides had opportunities to win it but the final whistle came and so to penalties. And what spot kicks! 15 were scored by both teams in an exhibition of penalty taking. The 16 th pen was put over the bar by the Derry central defender which saw Down Juniors through to the Dunluce Final by a score of 8-7.
The final against Dublin side Cherry Orchard was played at the Ballymoney Showgrounds with the Down team starting strongly and putting it up to the Dublin boys. However they could not turn chances into goals and the stronger Cherry Orchard Team opened the scoring just before half time. The second half was a bit of an anticlimax with injuries taking their toll and the Dublin Team scored a furth er two goals and ran out deserved winners. The Down Team were presented with their runners up medals by the Mayor of Ballymoney.
